TRY ANOTHER (good) BATTERY AND CHECK/TEST THE ONE YOU THINK YOU SHORTED TO SEE WHAT VOLTAGE IT HAS. SEEMS ODD OVER-TIGHTENING THE CLAMP WOULD CAUSE ANY DAMAGE.

THEN READ SECTION 5 IN THE SUPPLEMENT AND THE ASSOCIATED BASE MANUAL SECTIONS FOR ELECTRICAL TESTS. THERE IS A WIRING DIAGRAM IN IT, AS WELL AS A PDF IN THE DOWNLOAD SECTION. :thumbup

Welcome to the forum by the way. :beer It could also help if you added an introduction and your geo-location so helping you will be a tad easier.

turns out he's shorted it thru the metal tank strap, (facebook) I think he's probably killed a cell in the battery & was probably lucky not to have a fire , I said he should use a battery cover & ensure the tank damper is fitted correctly to keep strap away from terminals ;)
