stupid question time

Post by kwakaturbo »

hi all silly questions, here goes is there any advantage of using a pc3 on a stock bike only running k@n and race mode with straight threw exhausts????and where can i get the bigger injectors from if i need them ie car or another fuel injected bike???
thanks guys

Not really necessary if you are running stock boost, unless you are having real problems with rough running that can't be ironed out with the TPS. The stock injectors are big enough for around 180hp, but no-one has confirmed yet whether a PC will work with them without melting anything.

When you do need bigger, or hi-impedance (for a PC), injectors you can use car ones or buy new from www.rceng.com - if you buy from RC ask for "hose top mount" instead of the usual o-ring, you can then fit them to the stock fuel rail easy peasy.

thanks for that lorcan i only asked as with my bike running race mode ive done the resistor thing but it still runs like crap, ive also moved the tps, my other problem is its harder to start in race mode, coincidental i dont know but all sems fine in normal, mode except i do get quite a bit of popping out of the exhaust when i button of, any ideas on this problem
thanks

The popping is unburnt fuel burning in the exhaust, it's probably too rich. Are you running stock fuel pressure? What resistor are you using? This would be better addressed in the street tuning section, I'm pretty sure you could sort it out without a PC, but if not a PC and a dyno session is the ultimate solution :D

Hi Lorcan.

You say stock injectors good up 180 HP !?

On Sunday i was once more on a Dyno , at a Motorcycle meeting : 141 PS on rear wheel with 10 PS Lost Power = about 151 PS at Clutch . (with 1,25-1,3 bar boost - stock injector´s - Resistor - 3,2 bar fuel)

Image

I got the "First-Place-Cup for powerfulles Bike between 600ccm to 1000ccm :banana

When i want have more power it´s the only way to make higher boost , isn´t it !? ( GT1548)

I am wondering because : when stock inj. are ok for this high power ( 180) why use at lot of "tuning-forum-people" PCIII and greater Injector´s and have about 170-180 HP ?

I only asked , because i bought greater injectors and i will buy an PCIII , i will have about 170-180 PS , and i dont will kill my engine .

What is the highest boost without killing the original Engine-Parts ( with Wiseco´s) ??

Thank you Horst

180hp would be flat out, i.e. "static" - this means with the injectors wide open. It is better to run bigger injectors and only run them up to 80% duty cycle, as running injectors static can cause them to overheat and fuel inaccurately.

Power is directly proportional to boost, but there are lots of ways to increase efficiency and make more power at the same boost. Intercooling for example.

I'm not sure I understand your last question, the stock engine internals with a set of 810 Wisecos can handle 250hp, maybe more. You will need a lockup clutch for that of course.

My last Question is dificult to say it in english for me .

Wally Clemens says to me , before a few month that´s not good for the engine , it will be destroying , when i put the boost pressure higher as 1,3 bar .

Is this True ?

Because you and the other guys are more than 1,5 bar boost .

Do you anything do with the engine bearings , for better performance ?

When i must do the boost pressure so high why i bought me a great turbo ( GT1548) ? I hoped i can have more power with lower boost as the stock turbo must have !?

But all togehter i am satisfied with my power , today .

My aim was about 180 Ps at 1,3 bar boost.

Wally is correct, on pump fuel 1,3 bar is more than enough. I would stick to 1,0 bar personally.

On race fuel, 110-120 octane, you can go to 2,2 bar or more.

To get the most power on pump fuel you need to optimise everything to combat detonation. Pay particular attention to correct fuelling, intercooling and turbo efficiency, and ignition. You might also want to consider water/methanol injection. Detonation is the engine killer and MUST be avoided at all costs.

Hi

Apart from the loc up clutch, 810 wiseco pistons and intercooler all the engine parts are standard.

Sam says he ran 200 hp with the same apart from Standard pistons, which is well surprising.

Correct fuelling has a lot to do with it, Sam's running a PC3...

I use only 100 octan Shell V-Power

Result : If i use a PCIII i can make more power with the same boost-pressure ( 1,3bar) !?

Can you declare to me : on pump fuel i dont understand this.

"On pump fuel" - petrol bought out of a normal fuel pump at a garage. I.e. RON98

That depends how good your fuelling is without the PC, but chances are it could be improved throughout the range, even if it makes no more at peak.
