Don't think there's any difference in the wiring. The USB models have more cells i.e. every 250rpm instead of 500rpm I think.<br>
<br>
USB models don't do ignition (no use to us anyway as the ECU on our bikes doesn't do ignition either).

pc3usb also has provision for a quick shifter via fuel cut.you need to buy an additional switch which comes with the software to activate this option.<br>
if you could get the software on its own<!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :thumbup --><img src=http://www.750turbo.com/emoticons/thumbup.gif ALT=":thumbup"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> itd be quite easy to wire in any type of activation switch you may already have.<br>

Stop me if i'm wrong but-The p.c. simply alters the injector pulse width by modifiing the signal from the ecu to the injectors a few milli sec's here and there on your command- So if you had the p.c. connected and all the settings were set to zero the bike would run as if the p.c. wasn't there? also i take it all the power commander hardware is the same, it is the connections and the software thats diffirent, and by software i mean a collecton of settings i.e. 1's 2's 0's etc. developed on the dyno for each spacific make and model and uploaded to the unit? <br>
Does that make any sense?<!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :confused --><img src=http://www.750turbo.com/emoticons/confused.gif ALT=":confused"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> <br>

Nearly there but, software describes the little closed loop program that actually runs the unit. Its probally flashed on at the factory after all the pcb has been soldered together, and makes all the decisions regarding what to adjust and how and if its supposed to do spark etc. Inside it really will be a tiny ultra fast embedded computer, designed to just look at its inputs and make decisions according to the settings you program into it.<br>
It probally IS the same hardware, it would make economic sense to just do one production run and change the software (or more properly firmware since its the entire control system stored on a eprom or the like) to suit the bells and whistles the customer bought..<br>
The actual software flashed onto it is more than likely a closely guarded commercial secret, otherwise it would probally be that most customers bought the cheap one and reflashed it themselves.. You can be your life the serious competitors have a copy though, since if you have the $$$ to pay for the lab time you can read the code off a embedded chip with a scanning electron microscope. This is usually how sky card encryption is broken. You cant stop all the people all the time, just make it more awkward and expensive...<br>

You've pretty much got it Ian, although the connection of a PC even with zeros on the map does have a small effect. Bear in mind too that every bike is different (even if they appear to be the same spec) and needs a different map creating for it for the best results.

you can download most of the pc software from the power commander site,including an additional bit of software that allows you to set an accelerator pump type functionality .you cant actually use all the options until you have a power commander connected to your pc but itll give you a good idea of how it all works.the quick shift function is already built in ,you just need the windows software that allows you to change the settings and they only supply that when you buy one of the switching options.i bought the cheapest,a handlebar switch,which i intend to use to fire the airshifter,via a relay,im then going to use a second contact off the relay or a pressure switch to initiate the fuel cut when the cylinder has started to fill,unless i can find a nice cheap techtronics shift rod on ebay.

So theoretically, if you (or you and some friends) bought 10 pc3 usb's, and only one with switching options, you could just install the software with the feature enabled and enable all 10 units? or do they know the id of the unit theyre licensed to alter or something?

yes should work ok,the quickshifter accesory is an add on and as such does not need to be bought with the pc3usb.this means of course that it cannot be tied to a serial no etc.<br>
ps.the software is only 918kb.<br>
you still need to find a way of switching it but thats a simple 2 wire switch,and a way of making connection to the pc3usb.you can do this with a small mod to the plug supplied for powering the unit up via 9v battery.
