Top End Rebuild (Update-3)

Post by 750turboguy »

Okay...got the cylinder block dropped off at a local speed shop. Guy's name is Archie. He's gonna mic everything out to see if my original pistons and rings can be reused for assembly, if not, I'm goin for the 810 kit upgrade.

I'll post some pics as I go about the process.....

Right now I'm still scraping the old gaskets off and doin some clean up.

referencing the diagram. Do I stille need to install that metal plate with the two holes and o-ring around it? Seem that it would seriously reduce the flow.

I have the new tower style oil pins and new o-rings, but.......

Getting the surfaces all cleaned up...
Man I hate scraping old gasket.

What kind of sealant do you guys recommend?

Over the years I've used Gasgacinch.

Every time I turn around I find something that needs to be replaced...I guess that's a 42 year old bike you, right?

Now I find the forward mounts are all mush so in scouring Ebay for part numbers I found two pieces BUT the third... there is this cap.

I don't know what this part number is but it is NOT the cap shown.

Anyone????

Seems like an error with the part number. :?

The part you have queried is 11012-1228 and not 1226 as shown/listed on the parts list.

Part 1226 is not something I have seen on a Turbo although cmsnl suggests it is on the E2 California & Canada models. :popcorn
