At last!

Post by Olcockie »

Hi All,

Having signed up nearly a year ago on the premise I would finally start the rebuild of my E1, finally got moving a couple of weeks back. Will try to put some updates online as I go but pls be patient as pace will be sloooow!

An very enlightening discussion with Charlie re turbo got me digging in the shed dragging out turbo, clutch basket and (if I can find em :mad , injectors). Will pack em up and send over shortly. Tank is at body shop getting a dent removed and prep for painting. Next job I fear, is going through shed and any place I might have "stored" stuff over past 20 odd years to find the rest of it!

In the meantime will attach a couple of historic pics (excuse quality) to motivate myself and the most recent to show just how much work is in front of us. Will no doubt be bugging you all for advice as I go, so please excuse dumb questions and feel free to offer ideas.

At Last! is a good thing. There's a ton of users on here but no one has posted a new project in quite a long time. Ask all the stupid questions you want, I did and still do. Most on here are gracious enough to help out regardless. It is one of the things that makes this forum what it is.

Time frame, umm, I have had mine for 13 years and am still working on it. I would like to do more, more often but life has a way of getting in the way.

Looks like you have a good start, keep us posted, cheers :victory

Man that Nullabour picture looks like it could have been a madmax shoot .... awesome

20 years to get started is nothing, at least you had the bike during that period and know its history, even if your not 100% sure where you stored some of that history

Good luck with the rebuild and keep the photo's coming .... please

Thanks :) .

Got into the shed again last night and wouldn't you believe found a new OEM h pipe I didn't know I had... just after I committed to Malcolm for one of those he is building  . Looks like there will be some excess parts for sale once I am done.
Still can't find injectors though :( . Any suggestions for an alternative? May also be looking for a spare throttle body and stock plenum in coming months.

Can most likely get replacements in the 270cc range from RC as they stock them. I also might have extra set in my stash.

Let me know if you want me to proceed. Seen your turbo pics and looks good to send!

Thanks Charlie,

Can you give me a few days to see if they are in the back of a shed up on the farm? I’ll send original if I can and take you up on generous offer if I put em somewhere so safe they’re never seen again🤦🏻‍♂️.

Olcockie, that's all that was in the big crate  Just kidding, nice find.

Just a suggestion if you can. The shops like to have, in our case because there are 4 injectors in use at least 6 to choose from because they like to flow match all 4 as close as they can to each other. Not saying they won't do the best they can if they only have 4, just that they like to match up the best they can and also just in case one is totally in the shitter.

I sent mine out with 6 and they were able to match 4 really close to each other. :thumbup

Sent out about 50 sets of injectors last few years. They always flow 239 to 241cc's very close. Most are 239-240 when rebuilt new internals and flow matched. The only two injectors out of all those injectors bad was when they were not packed good and the pintle tips were damaged. So the key is wrap them up and protect them when shipping or storing. :thumbup

Nice to know they have all flowed so good over the years C. Having extra is just a suggestion because you never know. Hopefully he doesn't end up with that one, right.

Thanks Gents,

Sound advice. :thumbup I'll go with suggestions and let Charlie's mates make the call on what is usable and what is not. May be a mad scramble at the end to source an extra, coz knowing my luck, I'll end up with the 1 in 50!
