Fork Springs

Post by Nagahara750 »

Having stripped two set of front forks from 2 E1’s I find the springing to be different . One set had closely coiled springs with an aluminium preload circular block about 20 mm long whilst the other has what looks like a two stage string with close coils on one half and more open coils on the other. Does anybody know which is the standard one and what the other might be. Cheers

Have a look through the search box and you will see a bit of info about this. I have also posted a selection of photos showing disassembly process (not that you need that now).

the ones with the spacer block are likely aftermarket progressive springs, the others are probably standard :thumbup

Thanks Jez info much appreciated. Not sure what these washer you mention are as I have only opened the forks and to drain them. Looking at the pictures you sent me they are exactly like the shot showing the two sets of springs side by side. Cheers

I thought you had stripped the forks. Not just opened up the top and drained fluids. Hope you let the air out first.

There are 2 washers on each side, one of which is NLA. You will know what & where if you completely disassemble them. :thumbup
