ACE CAFE

Post by longfiredragon »

This Ace Café has been open in Orlando for a while now and I have been meaning to try and get there but bike night is every Thursday, so I have to take Friday off and have to ride 40 miles home in the dark. It will be worth it though. So I am planning to go up on Thursday Oct. 22 for the first time.

It seems like a very cool place. There is a lot of history around the Ace Café. Watch the video on the Ace Café in London which first opened in 1938. It has been bombed in WW2, Closed and opened several times, but I believe is currently open today.

Anyway looking forward to it. I will post stuff afterwards.

Ok, so it was a very long day, but fun. Started out by replacing the FPR with one Charlie had laying about and using anymore. Its a VMS. I looked the up and they are a small company in Miami. They say you won't get a better SARID type FPR then theirs because they only use diaphragms out of Japan. So i got it installed with a temporary bracket I made up. Looking at my fuel filter fuel was not flowing like it should. It was full, but not flowing correctly. Anyway replaced it to. Turned it with the AFR, and went for a test ride and got rained on. Idled better than I think it ever has. Came home and tweaked it some more, cleaned the bike and went for a 2nd ride, got rained on again. Found a dry spot to get in it and it did its breaking up shit again. Came home, let it cool off, went in the garage and the plug in the gage fell out and leaked oil all over. Cleaned that up. Took both handle bar switches apart and cleaned those. Went for a 3rd ride, got sprinkled on again, but no breaking up, yet. Came home got ready and went into orlando on wet roads. Stopped at cycle gear and picked up a new pair of riding boots i have been eyeballing for a couple years. And then finally made it to the ACE cafe around 6.
Got there early cause I needed to leave early cause the dogs will be pinned up at home. Had really good hamburger. And hung out until about 8:30. Stopped for fuel and headed home on wet roads again. Missed all the hogs, and deer and made it home safe at 9:15. Overall a good day but kinda tired now. The pic.s aren't in any order. Talked to a lot of nice people and had a good time. Will go back when I can but hate that orlando traffic.

That looks like a good day and some nice bikes to look at. Nice photos. :thumbup

Now for today's Vexillology lesson. Listen up at the back of the class.

In your photo of the inside of the cafe, there are two flags. However, the Union Flag (as it known and not a Union Jack which is the name when it is flown on a warship) is upside down. Please let them know so they can rectify it. :cop

To deliberately fly the flag upside down is a signal indicating a situation of 'DISTRESS'. It is also "lese Majeste" (which means: insulting the Crown), and is theoretically still a crime in the UK and its commonwealth!

I thank you. :humour :beer ::thumbup

Jez, thanks for the lesson. Obviously I know nothing of your flag. But a little confused. Looking at the flag if you look on the left side you can see where it has the part where you would attach it to a pole. Not that, that makes it right. But also I can't see where if I flipped it the other way it would be different? It looks the same on both sides to me?

Got it jez. I had to Google it. The broader white stripe needs to be nearest where it would be attached to the flag pole and on top. I WILL let them know ASAP. I might just ride back over today. Cheers.

Jez, I rode back up there this morning and spoke to a manager who assured me he would take care of it. I wanted him to do it then but he was busy. Only take 2 min. But I didn't push it. He gave me his email so I can contact him because I told him I wanted a pic. Cheers.

So I did email the manager I spoke to the day I rode back up there and asked for a picture. But as to be expected I emailed him last week and so far no response. Now days people are so incompetent in their jobs I seriously don't know how we survive.

I like to think that he at least had enough incentive to flip the flag like I asked him to. I will make it back up there one day and for their sake I hope he did flip it right side up, or I will be very pissed off and I will let it be known just because of the principal alone that you were asked to do something. He better hope he did it.

Later, cheers

I know, just venting a little frustration. I expect certain things in life. He was very nice and most likely he did it. I just like when people take a quick min. To communicate and not leave you hanging.
