Refitting HT10

Post by JezZedexE1 »

From other post/topic.

:help
This bike has shrunk!!!!!!!!!! :humour

What I have now encountered is a misalignment between the two mounting points on the frame and the two holes on the turbo bracket.

All parts are stock/original but for some reason the holes are about 5-6mm - 1/4 inch out in the vertical. Engine lugs being higher.

Question is can the two sides of the turbo rotate a bit, to bring the mounting points up to line up without the 4 spider pipes losing the alignment required?

If memory serves me correctly, it can't. There is a locating pin in there somewhere.

Ideas welcome. :popcorn

Did a comparison this morning and it certainly looks like there is a difference in alignment. To me it seems as though I have to get the two halves on one of them to rotate a bit so that they match and line up to the mounting points and the exhaust ports. :( :? :help

Sorted.

Loosen bolts and circlip, rotate and align. Reassemble.

Works for me! So pulled apart without being marked?
You should try to know everything about something & something about everything.

Not really pulled apart. I removed the mounting bracket bolts and squeezed the circlip a bit so I could rotate one half the little bit required to align the mounting points. Then put the bracket back on (reassembled) and put onto bike (reassembled). Job done. :clap

The bike is just about back together. :thumbup The questions are:- :?

(1) Do I turn the engine over now it has had oil put in? Plug caps off and no fuel tank connected at the moment?
(2) Do I keep the PCV connected or not? I don't think it would run with it connected as the PCV was mapped with the old turbo (VNT CRAP) fitted so will need sorting out.

OR
(3) Should I take it as it is to a bike shop to do the necessary oil circulation/pressure process and map the PCV once it is ready?

After all the farting about with this bike, I don't need any more issues now it is almost back together and ready to commission. :popcorn

I am leaning towards option 3

One thing left to figure out. Should I have the variable boost controller plumbed in or use the stock system/setup (wastegate) in conjunction with the PCV. :popcorn

Hey Jez
The turbo is pin mounted like you said but the pin has to center the compressor cover bolts for the waste gate to go together. was this pin removed and that is why it was not aligned? Also this cover should be sealed with R26 Red silicone so you do not have a pressure leak.

Sometimes the holes are off a little bit...not much which is why the damper holes are a bit on loose side.

Boost controller. If you want more boost hell yes..if the turbo was set up pre load correctly it should be about 12 to 13 lbs of boost. If let original it could be low as 9 and high as 11 if not pre loaded correctly.

Let us know!

The unit is the one I got back from you, in the batch DaveYB & I sent you a few years ago. It has been sitting in the cupboard since it got back. The pin is there as far as I know. All I did to get the holes to line up adequately was loosen the two bolts and squeeze the circlip a bit, allowing a gentle tap to rotate one side to position the mounting points to where they needed to be. No real disassembly involved. It all lines up very well now. :thumbup

I will not bother with the boost controller and just get a nice setting using the PCV and some info from Mang. It is possible I may need to amend the way the wiring has been done. :popcorn

I need one of the bikes road tested by mid August. :banana
