2018 Rally
It is that time to start planning for the 2018 Rally. Have had many request for a NE Rally this year. Lets have some feedback for places to hold the Rally & possible list of attendee's. Suggestions for a time of year help but will have to make a decision based on where and when the Rally is held.

Re: 2018 Rally
Beat me to it Charlie, was going to start a new thread for this topic after seeing it start elswhere .
http://www.750turbo.com/forum/viewtopic ... 1&start=15
Im in this year . The rally in North Carolina was about 24 hours driving for me and tom which kinda sucked but even after no sleep for close to 36 hours , unloaded , got situated at the iron horse , we went out for a blast through deals gap ( at night by the way with a headlight pointing in the trees i might add
)and thoughts of all the traveling and preparing we did to get there simply melted away.
Someyear soon the rally will take me back there and ill do the commute again no problems . The roads , the riding and the people make it worth my time.
The thought of it being closer makes me ecstatic . The Poconos are still about 6 hours from me but thats a quarter of the distance . Ive only been through Pennsylvania on 2 turn and burn parts deliveries that i did in a box truck . Unfortunately mostly at night , so didnt see much scenery .
As charlie mentioned and from what i remember the TMIOA had a few rallies in Pennsylvania and had a great time . I don't know much about the roads except for i think route 84 which i believe tears straight through the center . Im sure with a little research we could come up with some local members that know the roads or just wing it .
As far as a rally point in and around Laconia for bike week I will say, i go every year as well as tom and riturbo and crew . I dont go to Laconia for bike week per say , i go as a meeting spot and ride away from there . Way to many harleys for my tastes , beer tent after beer tent , a few aftermaket suppliers of harley parts and tons of leather and tshirt vendors . If we stay close , we usually head to the strip where everybody is and grab a couple drinks and walk around checking out the bikes . But thats after a days riding . The other drawback of Laconia is the insane amount of police presence . Another reason we usually ride close to an hour away. However the roads are great theyve done a ton of paving and the scenery is great . And there is some cool events going on , AMA hill climb draws a crowd and the Mount Washington auto road is open to bikes only on certain days . Ill leave that decision up to you guys , its in my back yard and will go out of my way to help organize it but hell , its a long damn drive for you guys so really dont expect the rally to come here .
But back on point , im in this year and will push for more attendants like i started doing for the North Carolina rally . Who knows maybe we can get some of our Canadian members to make it this year .

With my current job taking back a full week vacation and company vehicle I will be watching closely. Always down for some tire shredding If it is possible.

Re: 2018 Rally
George, just curious here, if you are in New Hampshire why did it take you 24 hours to make North Carolina? it's only 783 miles and 13 hours, 17 min. drive down I95? Reason why I am asking is because it seems like the middle area there of Tennessee, Carolinas is like the half way point for a lot of us up north and us down South. The distance for us Floridians to the Poconos or in that area is over a 1000 miles.
IMHO I know there is a boat load of riding in the Tennessee, Carolina area we didn't touch the first time. And I have said it once before and I will say it again, IMHO the rally is better around the Juneish time of the year. Look at what happened last year, hurricane Irma disrupted all the weather on the eastern seaboard. Plus less chance of pop up showers up North.
Anyway, just throwing all this junk out there.

Re: 2018 Rally
Charlie you mentioned over on the Laconia post how the NE guys would like to have it closer to them for once? But you mention how they have had lots of rallies up there in the past? We, I say we because recently members off this site (mainly you, and me on the first rally) have only had 2 rallies. The first one was in The Tennessee, NC area, which isn't that middle eastern America? and the 2nd one was in WV, isn't that by far more Northern America.
I don't really care myself, I will try and make it where ever it is. I was just trying to clarify because I don't think we have had it any where near the South ever

Re: 2018 Rally
Yes LFD there is so much riding we did not explore it would boggle your mind. The epic run we did on Saturday was just a small loop south of the Blue Ridge Parkway. There is MUCH more north of the Parkway with Wheels Through Time museum in Maggie Valley, Biltmore to the east at Asheville. Maybe Little Switzerland a bit more east......You get the idea....
Mountains to all you planners.....Mountains!!!!!
Yea I know I'm spoiled and live next to the foothills of Appalachia...lol

Re: 2018 Rally
Sure were gonna gets lots of idea's. Darryl I was referring to TIMOCA all turbo bikes that Scott, Roger, Brett and others attended. I never went or claimed to go to the TIMOCA Rally's. Heard of the good rides and stories back then were great times for all attending. No matter where it is someone won't be happy driving point A to point B. Yes there is tons of great riding in TN/NC that Brett & Roger could set up rides. Scott I think did the Rallys in the NE back in the day. Being from NY he knows the area's to ride pretty well. Its open discussion so lets get everyones idea's for the Rally. One thing about spring if we do spring we lose about 4 to 7 riders going to Laconia.

Re: 2018 Rally
783 miles huh ? Maybe from new jersey . Did you check in to my claims because you thought i wasnt being honest ? I live on West main street newton nh 03858 . I can assure you its 1024 miles via 95-287-78 -81 and 26 . Its 1036 miles via 95-85-40 . Towing an enclosed trailer we werent going to speed excessively , stop for gas stop to get meals and once to walk around a cool rest area to check the scenery . Regardless of 24 hours (which it was ) its still very similiar mileage compared to you going to the poconos best i can tell from cocoa beach using google maps .longfiredragon wrote:George, just curious here, if you are in New Hampshire why did it take you 24 hours to make North Carolina? it's only 783 miles and 13 hours, 17 min. drive down I95? I didnt have a problem going to north carolina / Tennessee in 2016 and dont have a problem going back . Only thing i had a problem with was the june date cause it prevented me from going to Laconia which ive been going to for over 15 years but i sucked it up and went to the rally anyway . Unfortunately riturbo couldn't make it in 2016 because his family books plans for Laconia way in advance as will probably be the case again if the rally happens in june .
But look , i dont want this to come across as me being a jerk . Im really not . I would love the rally to continue for many years and if the majority of the time it happened in NC/TN , sweet ! If i can make it will if not then hopefully the following year . But it would be cool to see the rally move around like it did in the TMIOA days , so we could meet some other members that arent so fortunate to be able to travel .

Re: 2018 Rally
George, really brother. I didn't at all mean for you to think that I thought you wern't being honest. Like I said I was just curious. I thought maybe you guys had taken your time and maybe taken in a few sites. It just seemed like a long time for the mileage. I don't know where you live brother I just googled it and it came up 783 miles, of course that is probably just to the NH border.
Of course non of this is really that important, I am sure everyone will figure it out. And I will decide if I can make it.

Wow out plowing for 35 hours and almost missed the rally ;
Good to start early and get this figured out . We need to keep the rallies going like they did back in the day .From the pics on the timoca site they had some good ones June is a tough month for me as we do new hampshire every year A big group of people that meet up every year . You guys should all come up . No Matter where we have it I definitely want to make this one . Missed the last two.

Re: 2018 Rally
Hey put together some local rides with other turbo owners in your area's. No rally this year. Hopefully there is more interest next year for larger group to get together and a place that will support everyone and everyone likes the facilities.
