Cylinder Head
Cylinder Head
is the cylinder head from an NA motor the same as one on a turbo motor? I have a NA motor as well so if I have any problems with the cylinder head can I just swap them?

Re: Cylinder Head
You can use it but you will have to drill and tap he engine temp sensor and use the turbo cams. The combustion chamber is shaped a little different , but is ok to use.
I've tried growing up, it just doesn't work for me, so I'll go on enjoying my childhood.

Re: Cylinder Head
Are you sure about that? (genuine question, not winding you up) I can't see any difference between the turbo and n/a chambers in the heads i have...kawasakiman542 wrote:The combustion chamber is shaped a little different , but is ok to use.

Re: Cylinder Head
I'm pretty certain the N/A head has about 1.5ml more room in the chamber, the Turbo is closer to a late 650 chamber volume, i'll see if i can dig the figures out

Re: Cylinder Head
Death, I think we went through this before.... the turbo head has a half round chamber, the na head has a half round chamber with an extra chamfer around it to accommodate the dome of the na piston.DEATH_INC. wrote:Are you sure about that? Re: Cylinder Head
Here ya go;
Here are some #s I have found on the volume of the combustion chambers on the 650s and 750s
650 head volume #s are
77-80 23.7
81 23.3 to 24.1 or average of 23.7 same as early one
82 24.8
750H 24.8 +-0.4cc
750L 25.3
Gpz750 25.9
Turbo 24.6
Re: Cylinder Head
Ok cool, thanks everyone.. This is an 'H' model so it will be very close.. Drilling for the sensor will be easy. Thanks again for the info..

Re: Cylinder Head
You may have an issue with the valve clearance, as the turbo cams have a different base circle than an NA set of cams. It can be done with a little work, as I've used a NA head as I wrecked all the Turbo ones I had when I was racing them.
Re: Cylinder Head
In the cleaned and marked areas the NA combustion chamber is wider than the turbo chamber:
If you use an NA Head with turbo pistons you have no squish. I think this is not good.

Re: Cylinder Head
What are the valve sizes on the Turbo head and are they the same as the NA heads?
Re: Cylinder Head
Yeah, i believe they are from memory (looked up part #'s a while ago)
Think is i think the 750H head has smaller valves on 1 side & the 650 definatley has smaller valves

Re: Cylinder Head
Thanks. Does anyone know the actual valve sizes?
Also I know this may be a strech, but would anyone happen to have or know flow numbers for a stock turbo head?
Thanks D

Re: Cylinder Head
Yes, i see that now that I look again (and you've pointed it out), but this is only on the 'A' head that I have, the earlier N/A one and the turbo one's I have don't have these.Theo CH wrote:In the cleaned and marked areas the NA combustion chamber is wider than the turbo chamber:
