30year anniversary
Hey guys I am thinking about maybe trying to put something together here state side, not to exclude anyone from anywhere, all would be welcome. This would be next year around this same time. I was thinking maybe the Tennessee area around the dragons tail. I hear they have a motel/hotel with big sliding glass doors up there where you can pull your bike inside at night. Not to mention I hear it is fantastic riding up in that area.
I have always wanted to take a trip up there myself. I would look into room rates, possible discounts etc. Maybe contact a motorcycle magazine and see if they would cover it, and maybe throw in a little something. For now I am just throwing it out there and see if there is any interest.
Thanks

Sounds innnnteresting!

(If you're aiming for Tennessee, October would be more pleasant, and the fall colors display would be well underway too. http://www.nps.gov/grsm/planyourvisit/fallcolor.htm )

Sounds good. You might want to make contact with the TMIOA. There are members on there that are not (inexplicably) on here who are always up for a blast and a chinwag
First to 200mph (2006) and still the fastest (211mph)

Yea Greg, October is good with me, I like it a little on the chilli side, and so does the turbo. I would not like it if it snowed though, that might mess up some of the riding. Maybe late Sep. early Oct.
Lorcan, who/what is TMIOA? Sounds familiar, but can't remember.

I'm doing a 50th Birthday Route 66 and then Ironbutts ride with John Altom next year, most likely around mid June to Mid July - fix it up for somewhere near our ride route!!!

Lorcan I contacted TMIOA, Lets see what they say.
M6NTL, it looks like route 66 goes right through the blue ridge mountain's. But right now it is just and idea. We will wait for some more input, and see what happens.

Spoke to TMIOA, they do not do rallies any more, but will post it on the web page if it ends up being a go.

Hi longfiredragon, sounds very interesting. I would love to be their but being in Australia, Hmmm I don’t think that’s going to happen for me. Well unless you’re little something you said in you first post is to fly me over to the US and give me your bike to ride then it’s a go from my end.
All Jokes aside, good luck with your arrangements. I hope you can get lots of takers from the boys over there.
Cheers Stew.

Just say when..........I was fortunate enough to grow up in that area, was riding HWY129 way back in the mid 80's when it was a secret. Would love to go back as I haven't been there in over a decade.
Unbelieveable scenery with lots n lots of curves, used to burn it down on a FZR400 with soft compound slicks

wcraig sounds good man.
I have been waiting to see what kind of response I was going to get. I think next week I may contact some places to stay up there and see about room rates. Maybe if people have a better idea of the cost for the stay would be better.

Re: 30year anniversary
Maybe a ride WEST Coast style. San Francisco to Los Angeles on HWY 1. The PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) With all the fun good stuff in between. Just an Idea..
Re: 30year anniversary
Ok, if you need any help let me know.
I'll be glad to make a run through there and see what's up. Haven't been through in over a decade but, I doubt much has changed.
Once you figure out where you want event domiciled at in the Dragon trail AO, you can pan out from there.

I'm game! Maybe throw in an inland loop along 58 and 33. (Including Santa Rosa Creek, Vinyard, La Panza Rd, etc.) Gotta hit the Rock Store and cruise the Snake. A parade of Turbos would turn a few heads, and we could pay this dude http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDj6ofYpRzI a few bucks to upload a dedicated YT video. Any interest a West Coast ride a few miles inland? There are some superb roads in far northern Az, southern Utah, and into western Colorado. (67 to N. Rim of Grand Canyon, 9 through Zion, 12 from Bryce to Burr Trail via the insanely pretty GSENM, Million Dollar Highway in Colorado, etc.)
No requirement to do ALL these road, just pointing out a few possibilities. Probably best sometime in late May, before the serious heat sets in.
