Bike week in Daytona

Post by VolNick »

Anybody going? I have been going for years and have never seen another Turbo. Except a CX500 one time.

Is that a Kawarley 750Turbidson you are going on?

I must admit I keep saying I'm going but never do, even then it'd have to be a flydrive. Arrive in Miami and rent a WideBoy for the week.

I did see some vendors last year with a turbo Harley set up that looked pretty sweet. I think they were from Australia. This is a big event, we get about a half million people for bike week from all over. I usually get quite a few comments on the Turbo but I am sure you guys all get the same thing. People seem to like the old bikes.

I used to go fairly regularly but, haven't been a several years. I thought about going this year but, my finances said  Maybe next year. There was a guy on my KLR forum from Port Orange asking if anyone was going. Know any local KLR riders?

I see some on the road regularly but don't know any. Easy for me to go since I live here. Raining today but I might get out later tonight. I did get a pass for the races from a work associate. May try and demo a couple of new bikes. They do that up at the speedway.

The demo rides are one of the big reasons I like to go! That and the good deals you can find! I bought my racing leathers at Daytona in 2001 for $500!

Test rode a Can Am Spyder (reverse trikie; not that impressed) a Kawa V-Twin Tourer (meh!) and a Ninja 1000 (I want one!!!) I saw Elvis riding an old Gold Wing and what looked like one of the guys from ZZ Top. I think I saw another 750 Turbo on Main Street but it was solid black. He was going the other way and I never saw him again. Oh, and lots of babes. Pics to follow.
