My method to post pics:

1. Go to or create your Photobucket account
2. Upload a picture (but no porn, hey don't look at me, I don't make the rules) .
3. Click on the picture to display it. You can edit the picture size right in Photobucket, to 1200 pixel wide or less of course.
4. Go way over to the RH side and click in the bottom box next to "IMG", the word "COPIED" will appear then fade away.
5. Come back here to your post composition box and paste it - hit [Ctrl] [V] together, and the picture's URL will appear, you don't need to use any of the tools above the posting box.
6. Preview and/or submit the post.
7. Admire your great success.

It looks like PB have had a change of heart and sacked their CEO . All the old photos now work again

You might need to pay a few bucks a month to use its hosting service though. You can still post any image here as an attachment as long as it's not massive.
