Anyone going on the RAFA Easter Egg run to the RAF museum at Cosford tomorrow?
I just borrowed my mate's DR800 BIG for the ride, I'll be going from Leicester...
RAFA Easter Egg Run
Re: RAFA Easter Egg Run
Got day release to the Pod today, so doubt I will be allowed out again for a while
- Hope the weather is good for you !
Re: RAFA Easter Egg Run
What a bloody superb day.
Rode just over 200 miles in all, can't even begin to guess at the number of bikes in attendance, but it was most certainly in the thousands!!!
We started at LCFC car park and rode approx 85 miles to Shrewsbury to meet the main group.
I was entrant number 340 at Leicester and that was just a small portion of the number waiting for us at Shrewsbury.
I had an obligatory "Botchulism Burger", and a bit of a thaw out - it was cold on Sunday morning!!!
The day remained beautifully dry and bright - excellent.
The main ride from Shrewsbury to RAF Cosford was about 25 miles, the police had closed off access to the A roads and the M54 on our route, and we rode as one continuous HUGE block of bikes. It was stunning.
There were spectators everywhere, at every road junction, and EVERY bridge over the roads of the route we took. Lots of the older generation were applauding us as we went past - it genuinely moved me to see the gratitude for what we were riding for.
I had an absolutely superb day, a good look around the (excellent) museum, and a ride home with a busted speedo!!!
Bloody knackering tho!!!
