Re: Power commander wiring
My PCIII is a 2002 ZX12 ; nr.: 204-410 i think that Bkie have only 1 Injector /Cylinder and no one more ....Lorcan wrote:Sorry guys, I only had 10 mins to get to work and it's a 7 minute walk
Right, it seems that things have moved on since I first fired up a PC on my bike in what...2005? Fuel injection on factory bikes has changed with many supersport bikes now featuring staged injection, or two injectors per cylinder, one in the TB and one in the airbox. And other changes, including how often and when the injection is fired. One of the reasons, apart from my own laziness, for not writing up the PC mod into a "How to" was that it was bound to be a work-in-progress. Until significant numbers of people had followed what I had done without issues I wasn't happy about writing it up as a guaranteed and workable mod.
I did say at the start of the PC thread, that you undertake this mod at your own risk. It seems that, for some, this warning has come home to roost.
To make a long story short, not all PCs are now the same inside as we first thought. Those with twin injectors per cylinder will reduce the duty cycle on the primary injector (low rpm) while increasing that on the secondary injector (high load). That's the way Storm works. If you fit this version of PC to your 750 the result will be that as boost increases the duty cycle of the primary injector will decrease, leading to huge numbers on the map (Horst?). That might still be workable, but it's outside what I have done personally.
Also some modern bikes now fire every 360 degrees, just like a GPz1100, instead of 720 degrees, like the turbo. Short injection times are key to emissions. Fit a PC that is set up like this and the rpm could report wrong, or not have enough range for us. Again, there might be ways around this, but it's not something I have encountered or had to deal with.
To summise, no, the PC mod is not "plug and play". And probably never will be. If you are smart you will buy a PC that YOU KNOW works with our ECU, not just one that might. I think there is a thread elsewhere in this section that covers this. I'll continue to contribute everything I know on this subject, and I urge you to do the same, as it really is a great mod. But as I no longer own a PC-equipped turbo it is mostly over to you guys from now on. I've done the ground work, it's up to you to refine it from here.
meanwhile i think that my injectors dont work good ....regards Horst

Re: Power commander wiring
So here is a quick look round my bike;
Dump valve - Check
Bigger injectors - check
PCIIIR - check
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9y7VJC26rO8
So now I check all fittings and fuel and stuff and guess what - it starts first time on the button.
I had to drop the Fuel Pressure a tad as it smelled rich and the idle screw came out a bit but it sounds brilliant and I am as happy a a pig in Palestine.
Now, granted the map is going to be wrong for the bike but up to 7500 rpm it revs quickly and smoothly but will not go any further than that.
I'll upload a YouTube link in a bit. the Video makes the engine sound like a bag of spanners but it is actually better in the flesh, how ever, when I rev it it rocks!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAzhlJm2X2g
Can't believe I have reached this point so Humbly I say unto you all Thank you, Thank you a hundred times thank you for your help and advice.
Now if I can resolve this low revving issue I'll be ready to go to Dyno and have fun.

Waste not want not - my bike loves that pipe. I even welded a boss into it for a Lambda sensor - thinking of a wideband sensor and gauge further down the line.Blownkwak wrote: do I recognise that can at all!!![]()

Phil. Great news that your bike is a runner
. Do you want to borrow my wideband for a bit? I'm up in Coventry this weekend and can always drop it by you. My bike is in a load of bits currently and going nowhere so feel free to use it.

I will have to say yes to that mate.
I am ready to make sure that the mapping is at least in the right ballpark and save money and time on the dyno.
Thanks for the offer.

Hi Lorc,
I put your 310cc map in as you mentioned it was pretty close to what I am running bar the T25.

Re: Power commander wiring
After yesterdays problem onroute I have checked the temp. sensor and it is fine, therefore it must have been a genuine problem with the engine getting too hot.
Now I did have a knocking issue prior to going PCIII so the new setup should have eradicated that but as I found out today, The engine does go very lean at full boost.
Yep, I got the wideband on for a brief moment and I am still lean at top end.
I set the boost pressure - as per install thread - but by using a suspension pump, pumping it to 15 psi and setting the throttle OPEN position (stock turbo with manual boost controller set to 12 psi approx.). I then started the bike and let it idle and set the throttle closed position i.e. off boost.
The idle had become a bit rough so I then dropped the fuel pressure to 33 psi (stock) and the idle evened out and the bottom end pick up was much faster.
I'll try and fit in another run with the wideband and plug some values in my map to richen the top end later in the week.
Initially I could not get the bike to rev over 7200rpm but now it seems to go up to 8700rpm. I reckon that cleaning the fuelling up will result in the desired engine behaviour.

Re: Power commander wiring
FF,
I feel that you should extend the top range( 15lbs-20 lbs)) beyond that which you will run, just because the waste gate may not open exactly the same every time, so you may go beyond the 15 lbs of boost, and not have the fueling to accommodate the situation. just my opinion,

Re: Power commander wiring
Fair point Kman, and I will do so, maybe set it to 20.
I was trying to keep the pressure a bit higher but not enough to sacrifice the poor little Shitachi.
I've got my eye on a couple of GT15's as well for future reference.

Re: Power commander wiring
I wil be on the save side :
My PCIII is a 2002 ZX12 ; nr.: 204-410
I have following wires on the PCIII :
4 stripy >>Injectors
4 non stripy >>> Injectors
black >>> ground
black/white ??????? must it be connect
red >>> switched power
dark-grey ???? boost sensor ??
white or light-grey ???? boost sensor ???
if i connect the black on ground AND the black/white also on ground i have different volt`s at boost cable as i connect ONLY tha black to ground , why ?
I connected the darkgrey to boost sensor (pink wire) and
i NOT connect the light-grey everywhere !! it´s correct ??
