Thanks Eckhard, that's the info I require.

Looks to me that the pc111 off the polaris having only 8 wires is not going to be suitable for the turbo, yes :?: :?: :(

Eckhard -

My pc5 is like this

Injector wires IN from ecu : Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange
Wires OUT to injectors: Wh/Blue, Wh/Green, Wh/Yellow, Wh/Orange
Grey, Black, & Red presumably tps, 12v-, and 12v+

Aussie - If I already had it in my hand as you do, I'd go ahead and try it. We're just bunching the extras together anyway so you'll have less bunching to do :) . I really just can't imagine dynojet is going to have a completely separate set of electronics in yours just because it's supposed to fit a twin instead of 4-cyl.
What's the worst that could happen?

Thanks Piney Power,i was thinking the same thing you said "I really just can't imagine dynojet is going to have a completely separate set of electronics in yours just because it's supposed to fit a twin instead of 4-cyl."

But I'm beginning to wonder now,and don't want to cut up a good pc111 and go through the head damage (mine) of it not going to be suitable.

Sometimes you just have to try shit & see if it works, which is much easier for me to say when someone else has spent the money. :)

Problem: PCIII made to run two high imp. injectors but needs to run four.
Solution: Get four low impedance, equal to the two high impedance?
Won't this negate the load issue? Just a thought.
I've been told that resistance is like holes in a bucket. Put two resistors in parallel and you have even lower resistance - not higher. Put them in series and you have different voltages to contend with.

I know fuck all about electrickery though, so you'd have to check that with someone intelligent.

Here's my guess on the wiring:

1 white - boost sensor
2 orange input 1
3 red - 12v
4 purple - output 1
5 yellow - output 2
6 black - earth
7 white & black - sensor earth
8 white & yellow - input 2

Track down the sensor wire and it's earth first by connecting a sensor (any) by trial and error and watching the throttle position on the screen. If it's not the white try the others. The b&w is almost certainly the sensor earth.

Then try the injector ins/outs and see what works. You won't hurt anything by trying it. If it's wrong it just won't work.

One of the Dynojet tech support guys just told me that he's picking up his own 750 Turbo. Sounds like a smart bunch over there. ;)

Sorry guys, I only had 10 mins to get to work and it's a 7 minute walk :D

Right, it seems that things have moved on since I first fired up a PC on my bike in what...2005? Fuel injection on factory bikes has changed with many supersport bikes now featuring staged injection, or two injectors per cylinder, one in the TB and one in the airbox. And other changes, including how often and when the injection is fired. One of the reasons, apart from my own laziness, for not writing up the PC mod into a "How to" was that it was bound to be a work-in-progress. Until significant numbers of people had followed what I had done without issues I wasn't happy about writing it up as a guaranteed and workable mod.

I did say at the start of the PC thread, that you undertake this mod at your own risk. It seems that, for some, this warning has come home to roost.

To make a long story short, not all PCs are now the same inside as we first thought. Those with twin injectors per cylinder will reduce the duty cycle on the primary injector (low rpm) while increasing that on the secondary injector (high load). That's the way Storm works. If you fit this version of PC to your 750 the result will be that as boost increases the duty cycle of the primary injector will decrease, leading to huge numbers on the map (Horst?). That might still be workable, but it's outside what I have done personally.

Also some modern bikes now fire every 360 degrees, just like a GPz1100, instead of 720 degrees, like the turbo. Short injection times are key to emissions. Fit a PC that is set up like this and the rpm could report wrong, or not have enough range for us. Again, there might be ways around this, but it's not something I have encountered or had to deal with.

To summise, no, the PC mod is not "plug and play". And probably never will be. If you are smart you will buy a PC that YOU KNOW works with our ECU, not just one that might. I think there is a thread elsewhere in this section that covers this. I'll continue to contribute everything I know on this subject, and I urge you to do the same, as it really is a great mod. But as I no longer own a PC-equipped turbo it is mostly over to you guys from now on. I've done the ground work, it's up to you to refine it from here.

Just thinking outloud here
Wouldn't the PC for a two-injector-per-cylinder bike have more wires in the harness if it were to control their respective signals separately?
I might even guess that the PC only modifies the signals to the primary injectors and the secondaries run straight through the harness unaltered(probably all those extra brown wires that loop through on my zx14 plugs).
My pc5 has 4 wires in and 4 out. I will get it hooked up Monday or Tuesday now that I got the other things finished that I had to before starting.
I emailed the tech at dynojet to see what he says.

We know we're on our own with these things. It's a 25yr old bike ( where are the anniversary t-shirts btw?! ) for Pete's sake and many dealers won't even work on them anymore! Don't feel like you're responsible for our lunacy.

What happened to your bike? What has it (or going to) become ? Or is it just parked while you work on the Storm?

Thanks Lorcan, your thread has made me have second thoughts on using the pc3 in question. :(

On the bright side,it didn't burn a huge hole in my pocket and can probably flog it off at a later date. :D

Maybe i should buy a Polaris "problem solved" :victory

Thanks all for your input.

Cheers...Dave
