Hello cr429,
This green light will flash three short and then three long. Kind of like a morse code. To activate this, two wires clipped together with a metal clip, are separated. You can read much about this wire clipping here on this site. Some other mods should be done along with clipping these wires. I would suggest you enjoy what everyone has written about this first and decide later if this is the best thing to do. Welcome to the site, glad to have ya.
Buying used
i bought my 84 with about 21k miles on the clock for 700$us. it was apart and had a blown turbo.
i spent 600 dollars and had mike at HPU rebuild my turbo. then over the next year i purchased various parts such as a bypass valve, air filter, clutch springs, new clutch.
then at about 24k miles my rings started to let go and it was smoking. also the head gasket was seeping a bit. so it went down to HPU for a 810 kit, new rod and main bearings, rebuilt trans, valve springs. i then had my exhaust done, got the 530 conversion kit, rebuilt the forks and switched to radial tires.
i did not know it would be so much of a headache but shortly after having the engine done, i spoke with the original owner of the bike who told me how bad he had abused it and that he expected it. only after i owned the bike did i find this out. i wish i would have looked more thoroughly into this in advance but it all seemed to work out for the good. now i'm awaiting the cash for my HPU stage 2 turbo, HPU bypass valve and clutch springs for this upcoming race season.
originally the bike came with a rebuild kit for the turbo and as i found out from speaking to mike this would not work at all and was junk so i'm glad i made the decision to call him first rather than having this hanky jank rebuild kit from california installed.
