GPZ 750 petrol tank

Post by Seadog »

Due to the shortage of turbo petrol tanks, is it feasible to cut out the fuel injection return from the turbo tank, make requisite hole and braze the return into a standard GPZ 750 tank.
Come on own up who's done it?!!

No the GPz tank doesn't fit due to the larger diameter frame tubes on the turbo.

Sorry for busting in on the thread, but this is interesting, are there any other tanks we can use for the turbo, and preferably bigger !

Hmm, it's possible but looks wrong.....

I fitted a non turbo 750 tank to my turbo when I ran it not turbo a few years ago..... BUT! you need to put a spacer on the tank mount studs on the frame and redrill holes on the mounting bracket which means the seat needs a little work to fit properly. I think I also ovalled some doorstops for the front mounts too, meaning the front faring didn't line up too well (so I didn't fit it) It looks a bit bitty as the tank and panels have a big gap between them. it goes on, but doesn't fit nicely.

Tack fitted a GPz900R tank to one of his bikes and it looked good. Try searching for the thread ;)
