Choke lever not working.

Post by TURBO TED UK »

So when you lift the choke lever it will not increase engine revs.
Having a closer look and found that the rounded lever wasn’t touching the push lever on the throttle bodies.
I’ve now adjusted it so it is only just touching but what I need to know is how much movement should you get on when the choke is operated.
Mine only moves about 3 mm , is this normal ?
Thanks guys.

So just for the record yes it is a very small amount of movement, so no choke to full choke moves the lever about 3mm.

I had exactly the same issue. The cam barely touched the nipple.
Adjusting the cam made no difference .
I ended up putting a tiny copper sleeve over the nipple.
( in fact, it was an old copper heatsink for a germanium transistor an AC128 to be precise)
Its not really a choke lever, its a fast idle lever .

ACTUALLYYYYYyyyyyyy. that lever is NOT really a "choke' lever. A choke mechanism enriches the mixture slightly for cold starts on carbureted engines. Since our bikes or any electronic fuel injected engine, the mixture is controlled by the electronics.

It's really called a fast idle lever as it just raise the cold start idle a little bit. You can actually loosen that little screw and adjust the angel of that cam to roller to get more or less contact. Just sittiing on it at idle is the best adjustment.
