Hi lads,
I’m getting into classic racing. There are some track days coming up in the spring and as the race bike is a H***a ( that is pretty much the only bike that is readily available here and qualifies) I want to get one of the kawkers on the track a few times at least. I currently have a Gpz1170 and a turbo that are running pretty well. Turbo would be my choice for the track day. Question is. Without mods and work am I foolish the the bike on the track. Am I likely to incur break downs etc with a stock motor and end up with a lot of work to put right? I know some of you are racing modified bikes in race mode etc. but I get the impression you have beefed up oil lines and pumps etc.
the only mod I would plan to do is change fork seals ( as they are leaking on the breaks at the minute) and an oil change and check shims.
Any advice welcome.
P

Re: Track day
I did Silverstone then Brands just race mode for the first then uprated front spring for the second should have fitted radials. Had no trouble on the straight, cornering is a different matter I was the oldest there on the oldest bike still came in the middle of all the riders that day at Brands great fun.

Thanks for the reply Young blood.
I was afraid I was at risk of trashing the engine( what ever about the bike).
I’m really showing my ignorance here, but how do you activate race mode?

There's none of us getting out of this alive!
