You should try to know everything about something & something about everything.

damn scary! Happy you didn't lay it down seeing the rod end separate.

Was that one of the extreme use hyme joints or an aluminium unit? If the former instead of the latter I would be in fast contact with the place that sold it to you. If the latter I would replace all of them for the steel units. Glad things were as easy as they were, could have been a much worse outcome.

Yea i know i was lucky they hung on till I got home....so I got these from Jeff.. tack 1000 he hasn't posted on here for a while but I think he had these on during his 201 mph run he made.Im not sure how long he run these before that but I have had them for at least 10 years and i always thought they looked weak but never had problems till now .....but I'm having trouble finding new ones in the states they are m12 x1.75 pitch thread the bearing hole fits a m10 bolt through it so it's a 10 mm hole right? They are right hand thread and the threads are 1 1/2 inches long or 33.1 mm
any info would be cool

12x1.75? are you sure on that, I can find the more common 1.25 coarse and 1.5 fine rod (external thds) and the 1.75 as barrels (internal thds). Do you use both left and right or are they all right hand thread?

That must have been a change undies moment.
At least you are OK and minimal damage to the bike. Rear inner guard should be easy to replace. The seat a bit of work, but possibly repairable.

Just did a quick search for "m12 rod end", came up with many possibilities, one of which may be what you are in need of......but I'm having trouble finding new ones in the states they are m12 x1.75 pitch thread the bearing hole fits a m10 bolt through it so it's a 10 mm hole right? Thanks guys ....man i can see now when you look up a m12 bolt the bore will be 12mm when you specify a 10mm bore it changes the pitch of the threads and makes it a 10 mm bolt.Jeff must have hade these special made ....if I was to use the 12 mm bore I would have to get different bolts BUT i have to drill out the lower swing arm holes to accept them and could not go back to original struts but they would have more meat around them to be stronger.I sent a message to a company in Japan that can make them I'll see if they get back with me

No need to drill out to 12mm. Slide in a thin 0.5mm sleeve and then the inner diameter/bore will be 10mm. Use a good/appropriate material (Phosphor bronze maybe) and do an annual check for wear.if I was to use the 12 mm bore I would have to get different bolts BUT i have to drill out the lower swing arm holes to accept them and could not go back to original struts

No your right thought of that what's weird is there were small washer or bushings inside the bore of the bearing that i think made it 10mm but only had one left in each ??..now I'll look for a sleeve i wonder if eBay has these? Thanks
