Shame it's a members only site. Guess I'm going to have to join it at some point.

I think I will not be able to add my thoughts, as I do not do main-stream SM. This site is about it. :thumbup

No not normal . Either your forks need work or you need a baring . There shouldnt be play anywhere like that in your front end . Hard to tell where as the vid doesnt show very well where the movement is .

My guess is the forks are disassembled with no seals and they are at full extension, and that's slop in the bushes. It doesn't look like 10mm, but I'm sure it feels like it. There isn't much overlap in the fully extended position, so it multiplies any clearance it has. Try new bushes.
It's not that uncommon.

The seals are all in place and having replaced all the seals bush's etc. they were at full extension with the springs installed so I have just removed the springs and redone the test compressing the leg around 5 CM at intervals and the slop progressively decrease's until at full compression is not detectable at all :finger: is this normal guys? should I be looking for some new bottom legs? I am now at a loss where to go with this :mad

anybody got some they would part with? :pasties

Truth, when I had mine redone I did not check for play in that area. However I did have mine in my hand and just kinda playing around with them and pushing them in and out on the floor and what not before I actually installed them. And I don't remember there being any kind of play like that.

I have a couple extra's at home in the shed, I could check them and see what kind of play they have. I also have a pair of ZX11 forks that I will be installing (One day) I can check those and see how much, if any play they have there.

I don't know a hole lot about forks, but just going on common sense, I would think that you do not want that much play between the inner and outer tubes.

I can't imagine you riding with the forks at full extension so I think if you pull the spring and set the length to a normal ride height you will find a much smaller distance.

Whether it is in wear limits is another question.

So, I just went out to the shed and checked both the turbo forks I have. One is completely rebuilt except for the inner tube, the other seems to be in good shape but not rebuilt.

They both have some play at full extension. It does not seem to be as much as what I see on your video, but there is some play there. Enough to make a clicking noise when shifted back and forth. Don't know about under compression, I would have to lock them down some how, cause of course they are assembled and you are pushing against the spring.

Afraid it's not much help batpooh, because now I would have to ask the same question. Is this normal? The one fork that has been rebuilt has more play then the other one, and I had that one on the bike for years and never noticed any issues.

On another note I checked both ZX11 forks at full extension and both basically have zero play. No clicking from side to side, and just a tiny, tiny bit of side movement.

Sorry not much help. Hopefully somebody with good knowledge on the turbo forks will chime in.

Just been out and assembled 2 forks.

There is some play, but once part number 44065-1051is properly in place, there is a big improvement. I have not put in a seal or any of the other top bits (washers, circlip, dust seal, etc.)

I would imagine that once all other parts are in place and it is fully assembled, there may be a tiny bit of play but nothing to worry about.

I have just tried to view the Youtube video again, but it won't play for some reason. However, that may be my PC blocking something. :popcorn

I also used two different length rods but that didn't seem to make any difference.

Cheers guys :thumbup

I'm on holibobs at the mo :rock

When I get back I should have a different make of bushes etc which I will fit to see if things are any different.

Am I right in thinking the 1100 bottom legs are the same? May try some different legs to see if it's any different

Cheers guys

Ps the vid still plays plays for me so maybe it's just you Jez🙄

Go to 14 sec on your video. (It works for me again, no idea why it would not last weekend).

The part number 44065, which I underlined in red on the diagram (44065-1051) does not appear to be in properly. I think that may be the issue.

If that is the problem, see attached images.
