I'd like to get a boost gauge fitted and wanted your recommendations regarding make, range, etc! Are there any (that don't cost a kidney) that can leave a record of maximum boost? I really don't want to see what boost I am hitting under load while riding but rather when I pull over.
Thanks chaps!

Re: WHICH - Boost gauge?
I use an Autometer mechanical boost gauge . Unfortunately i cheped out and didn't get a liquid filled gauge so the needle bounces quite a bit . Ive come to learn how to read it so i know within a PSI what the bike is boosting at . And i understand your concern about a recall function , wish mine did .
Once you get one , youll look at ir constantly out of interest but once you've had it for awhile , your eyes will just glance at the gauge at the right time for only a millisecond and you'll know what its reading . Bit of a warning .... although the recall feature is cool , if you wait till after a run to find out your overboosting , you may be too late . Detonation happens fast and stock cast pistons can't handle it and will melt . You can still look for a gauge with that feature but your going to have to get good at reading the gauge under power .
As for what you need .... stock bike boosts at 10-12 . Modified for the street up to 14ish , if your bike is well equipped and AFR is safe they can go 15+ (PLEASE DO YOUR HOMEWORK AT THESE LEVELS)
So a safe gauge would be 0-20 psi mine is 0-30 psi . Some measure vacuum also ( off boost ) mine does not . Usually you need to buy a gauge mounting cup separately.
You get what you pay for though , and the cheap gauges wont seem to cheap if you have to buy 2 because of failure or replacing pistons cause it didnt read correctly.

I use a VDO boost gauges in my turbo anything. The needle is steady on the 750 and does not flicker a bit.

Hi.
I have a Speedhut gauge, I had alot of trouble with other gauges flickering, but the speedhut is electronic. Very good gauge, you can set a warning light for say 15psi and even adjust the light brightness, can also check your maximum boost after a ride.

George is right the Speed Hut Gauges work great. I had the electronic also, which worked excellent, but took off all the electronic extra's once bike tuned take load off the charging system (Boost, Fuel Pressure, Fuel Ratio)
