zr7 oil pump dimensions

Post by MrFluffy »

Hi all, I see from the howto and reading about that the zr7 pump has larger gyrator gears, but I have just had one arrive after buying it on the part number 16082-1158 from ebay, and its turned up in a sandwich bag with a handwritten label.
I've measured it externally and compared it to what I think is a stock 750 pump I found in the spares shed, and... I cant see any difference. Where should the difference be measurable externally? I dont want to disassemble it inside and open myself up to claims of tampering from some dodgy seller if its possible to tell from external dimensions.

Are all z7r pumps larger, if not, do the larger/smaller ones have different part numbers does anyone know?
If it isnt a 16082-1158 they can have it back as significantly not described, but if its my cockup, I'll just have to eat the not insignificant cost and get another one later on having a expensive education in part numbers.

When I made the post I should have given specs on the gears..but figured the picture showed it is quit a lot bigger.

If you are Curious stock Gear should be around 16.1mm, ZR7 should be a couple mm more.

Also the Back cover where the screws and cir-clip are will be extruded not recessed like on the original oem.

16082-1158 is the zr7 pump part number you want . There is no other size that I know of . I do have a used zr7 pump off and waiting to be installed in another project so if you need some kind of dimension from it , ill do my best . :popcorn

However as you can see from my previous post , there is a distinct visual difference. :thumbup

Thanks all, self panic over, side by side they look like the side by side shot above. I hadn't taken note of the recessing in my quick analysis last night.
Charlie I'd seen your pic but somewhere in my head screwed up the perspective and had it as the pumping chamber being 10mm or so thicker, so I held them up side by side and thought "oops I bet this is from the wrong year or something it only looks a couple of mm or so bigger" as I thought I read some discussion where only certain years came with the larger pump.

Yep, sorted quick like, thanks. I don't have a lot of money right now for projects so its a big chunk of budget to loose to a mistake so extra paranoid.

The reason for two threads on the same subject isn't attention, its that mysql gave a sql error and said to retry the action so I did a second. But helpfully people have posted to both so I wont try and delete the other one unless someone wants to make this section tidier or something.
