Which Power commander V do I need?

Post by Betterthanfabio »

Thinking about getting a power commander.
Are there different sorts & will any powercommander V work on the turbo or does it need to be a specific model?
Is the wiring the same on them or do they have different plugs etc for different bikes?
Somebody please educate me but keep it simple please! :)
You should try to know everything about something & something about everything.

As long as you buy one for a 4 cylinder bike you'll be ok, the ones for twins and triples don't have enough injector drivers inside so avoid those. The plugs vary but as you'll be cutting them off anyway it doesn't matter :D. The wiring is the same.

That simple enough for ya?

Grumpy and Pineypower both used pcv , I think they're all the same but different plugs to fit different harnesses, so the plugs get cut off and the pcv get patched into the turbo harness. It's more complicated than that but thats a start.
Lorcan beat me to it. :beer
I've tried growing up, it just doesn't work for me, so I'll go on enjoying my childhood.

Where do you fit a powercommander? I think I remember Fast Ferret having his under the seathump, but with the DFI computer under there how the hell do you get it in?
1984 ZX750E1 (needs a few little bits), 1984 ZX750E1 being built (810 motor on the floor), 1986 GPz810 (Debben head, turbo chassis, longer, lower, dirty and black), 1995 ZZR1100 D3, 1987 GPz750 in black, red and silver.

I stashed mine behind one of the sidepanels. They're not very big, about the size of a cigarette packet.
