car injectors??

Post by Bigfrankfromwhitby »

hi everyone
i'v just got a powercommander ready to install over the winter months and was just wondering about injector choices. i know they need to be between 12 and 16 ohms and around 310cc but i dont fancy paying for new rc ones. has anyone on here used ones of turbo cars like saab turbo's or astra turbo's etc.
my bikes still 750cc and is running an ihi rhf4 turbo with a side exit exhaust and cone filter. i'm not expecting huge power but would like it running well with the options of upgrades next year I've spoke to john warrington an malton and he's quite happy to dyno it for me I've heard he's relay good. any help greatly appreciated

John will look after you, I know him well. He's a groovy dancer too :banana

Car injectors are fine. Plenty of lists online with sizes, but you'll need to check they physically fit as well as the impedance.
First to 200mph (2006) and still the fastest (211mph)
Quickest turbo-only 8.69 @ 162mph

I did have saab red injectors in mind. There not too bad priced too. Did they fun in to your throttle bodies and on to your fuel rail ok?

Curiosity has got me. Is there an injector that is a direct swap for our bikes in stock form? 810 cc? Is this a custom thing that is a trial and error based on your bikes state? If you have swapped yours (injectors that is) What did you put in? Any mods? Any input will be GREATLY appreciated.

I hope I can help here....When doing mods for more HP ,bigger turbo(raising boost level),more flow with the 1100 tb's ,810 kit, some have fitted a power commander to remap the fueling, and with this adaption it is necessary to use high impedance injectors, our bikes come stock with low impedance injectors, this is why the change. It is not the only method of meeting the need for more fuel, some have used an adjustable FPR and resistors along with bigger low impedance injectors, either way it takes time on a dyno to get it set up properly with the use of a wideband oxygen sensor for a/f ratio.
I've tried growing up, it just doesn't work for me, so I'll go on enjoying my childhood.

What mods did you make Horst? Any to the bottom end? Curious as i didn't modify the bottom of mine, just the top for the fuel rail

They're the proper ones, they'll be fine. & that was bloody cheap!! I paid £50 for mine but they've been flushed & tested

I'm struggling to see how I can mount my injectors to my fuel rail. There doesn't look like there's enough room to clamp a hose on the top of the injector. How have you guys managed it. I thought of modifying the fuel rail off the car the injectors came off but if there's an easier way I'd be happy to hear it :beer

You have to cut the plastic off the fuel line end of the injector and expose the metal tube underneath. Do a search on modifying the injectors.

Just searched it now. Looks easy enough to do will defiantly be easier than modifying a fuel rail. Cheers :beer
