Reports of the salt look good Jim, see you out there hopefully :thumbup
Yep, hearing the same! Still haven't decided which venue. I might hook up with Sims for ease of transport(haven't discussed with him or Mike yet) for the Speed Trials but if Mike & Ryan(Ryan is Sims son and pits for Mike ...

Re: Jim Short's Bonneville report (long, but worth it!)
For some reason I believe he wouldn't go along with your idea!
Since you are considering an airport LSR venue, why not head up and over to Bonneville? Much more to see in the pit action, however, one is much closer to the race vehicles during their runs in airport LSR.

Re: Jim Short's Bonneville report (long, but worth it!)
So all they need to do is pump rain water up the mountains?
Yer funny! Never looked at that way before! Well, guess one could do that but not sure how effective it would be as the water has to leach through before it floods the salt plane.
Did you hear the SCTA has prepped and groomed three ...

Re: Jim Short's Bonneville report (long, but worth it!)
Thanks for the comprehensive update Jim, perhaps all is not lost after all. One of our crew said the other day "they just need to pump seawater onto it". Then I mentioned it was 4500 feet up...
That's funny! The surrounding mountain runoff is much saltier than ocean water anyway.

Re: Jim Short's Bonneville report (long, but worth it!)
Well hopefully it's not quite as bad as reported and the intervention helps to get racing back regularly at a world renowned venue.
Thanks for the overview and update Jim.
Actually Tack, it was so bad a few months ago that racers and all concerned stood in dirt where a thick layer of salt used ...

Re: Jim Short's Bonneville report (long, but worth it!)
I'm hearing that the salt is less than an inch thick now due to extraction and will be useless to run on for many years. I hope that's not true...

Hello Jim!
Great hearing from you. It's more likely that you're unaware due to being out, which is good. :)
Forum lingo. It's just a way of surfacing cream of the crop, 'bumps' to the top.
After reading this again last evening, I felt compelled to do so.
How have things progressed with ...

Hi Tack,
I do much appreciate your insight on electrical issues. We grew so sick of electrical gremlins that not one of us wanted to continue with the project. 'Twas the reason for complete re-wire. 30+ year old wiring and connectors have lots of gotchas for certain! You experts here on the site ...

Re: Jim Short Bonneville report 2012 (long)
Hello Jim.
Its funny how these little things take you unaware as you are focusing on the big ones like mapping not new brushes in the starter motor or quirky wiring issues.
Oh, I've still stories I've not shared from the 2010 experience! This might have even have contributed to blowing the head ...
