Re: Still not running right ..

Update - ok so now we're getting somewhere :victory Put it all back together with new genuine inlet rubbers, done up to the correct torque this time, new BR9ES plugs and NGK non-resistor caps. Fuel pressure re-set again and a decent TPS fitted and adjusted - thanks Peter! :clap

A bit of fiddling ...

Re: Still not running right ..

Thanks Jez - ideal :clap Where did you get the table with the part numbers from? Looks different to p 1-14 in my manual .. I'm assuming its referring to the 'Throttle valve holder bolts' - see pic.. Cheers, Matt :D

Re: Still not running right ..

Quick question - Anyone know what torque setting is recommended for the 6mm allen bolts that hold the inlet rubbers to the cylinder head? I have the Clymer manual and also the Kawasaki 750turbo supplement bit I can't find this info. Cheers, Matt :D

Re: Still not running right ..

Thanks everyone. Does the soot mean my no.4 inlet valve might be leaking? Compression is 'ok' so how would soot end up in the inlet tract? No.4 inlet tract seemed quite dry when I opened it up, the others were wet but it was definitely running on all four? I've got 4 x genuine inlet boots coming ...

Re: Still not running right ..

Update - Thanks for the tip off 750turboguy. Had a fiddle with it yesterday. It was too light to do the 'orange flash' test so I ended up removing all of the injector rail assembly etc. Manifold rubbers were tightened to varying degrees! No.4 had a sooty stain to one side suggesting a bit of blowing ...

Re: Still not running right ..

Hi 750turboguy. Yes - I've read that on here somewhere. Maybe you posted it? It's on my list of things to check! Nowadays I do bolts etc. up to the recommended torque settings after being told off for overtightening - but as you say, 100% definitely worth checking, if only to eliminate that.. I'm ...

Re: Still not running right ..

Hi rangeroy. Thanks for your comment. Yes I think the wiring is fine. New battery, completely re-wired and a decent starter motor. It spins over great but it doesn't generally 'start on the button' until after 5 or 6 seconds, then it barks into life if you give it quite a bit of throttle. Charlie ...

Re: Still not running right ..

Hi Jez. I'm a bit confused now. According to Charlie Brown (see reply Jan 24) with the billet turbo fitted I now need to be in race mode with the variable resistor and increased fuel pressure, if it's to run right? - so that's the route I was taking. I've got BR9ES plugs for it, the variable ...

That’s good to hear. However, I think my old girl might require some electronic intervention before she’s happy :popcorn

Re: Still not running right ..

Ok - got the plugs, just need a variable resistor now. Is there a recommended one? Will this type (5 k Ohms version) do it?.. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/382850392801 Am I right in thinking that the variable resistor goes between the brown and red/blue wires, both of which are disconnected from the ...
