9) Text update......been busy and the weather has been bad here in the Pacific North West. Have made a LITTLE progress
but haven't had time to make the videos. A lot of the work is prep and cleanup and then the editing takes time......

So let me tell you what's up. Got the base gasket mounted and sealed down with all new o-rings. Next I got the
cylinder block mounted with the pistons, new rings and new wrist pin clips mounted. I redesigned the cylinder
and head system a little bit. Most of you know there are two bolts in the head that sit in the cam chain run
and are very weak. A stupid Kawasaki design...once you remove those two bolts the threads from the cylinder block
come out with them. I had to redrill and install inserts. I decided instead of using the two original bolts I was going to
install threaded rod into the bolt holes and cut to length. This took some time and experimenting. Got the head cleaned
up and mounted and started torqueing...going slow so as to not strip anything. Fuck man...do you have any idea how
tight 29 foot pounds is? I had beads of sweat running down my temple with every click of the torque wrench just expecting
something to strip and break loose...I mean we're talking 40+ years old equipment here right? But...I got all the head nuts
done. Next I started to tighten my new inside head nuts to the studs....(see pic) and went slow, slow, slow....just
waiting for them to strip. The manual says 22 foot pounds on those but mannn.... I started with my inch pound torque
wrench and slowly brought them up to 16 foot pounds and stopped there. I wasn't going to risk ripping them out. Next
I staked them with a punch so the nuts won't come off going 100 miles an hour down the road.

Next I mounted the cams. Rotated the engine to the TDC mark and laid the cams in the cam runs, mounted the chain and
stopped there. Next....verify the timing. Rotate engine a few times and then throw in the battery and do a compression
check. I'll make a video of that.
