Re: Power commander wiring
Today i checked my PCIII wiring again :
I see that the last and not connected fat white wire have a little white wire inside AND also a naked wire (without plastic arround) !
I see that the naked wire (inside the fat white wire) is going to the black/white wire ( digital ground) !!????
I have connected both ground wires (blk and blk/w) and i dont connected the white wire , but why the connection to the digital ground (original from Micron).
Please help me if you can

never seen that wire on any of the units I have fitted. Trust you to get the odd one out.

Re: Power commander wiring
Which model PCIII are you using?
If it is the PCIIIr then they will be the ignition control wires depending on the model of bike it is for.

Re: Power commander wiring
You guys probably figured this all out by now but here is some info just in case. All PCIII / PCV units use standard wire colors.
ORANGE – cylinder 1 to ECU
YELLOW - cylinder 2 to ECU
GREEN - cylinder 3 to ECU
BLUE- cylinder 4 to ECU
ORANGE/WHITE – cylinder 1 to injector
YELLOW/WHITE - cylinder 2 to injector
GREEN/WHITE - cylinder 3 to injector
BLUE/WHITE - cylinder 4 to injector
GREY – variable voltage of TPS (or could go to boost input if needed)
BLK/WHT – digital ground
BLACK – chassis/battery ground
Not all Power Commanders are the same nor do they have the same internal data. You will need a unit for a 4 cylinder bike if you want to drive each injector independently. The MV agusta is a 4 cylinder bike and does use the same connectors as the GPZ. I have not verified the polarity of the connector yet though.
If one guy used say a Hayabusa unit and another guy uses a ZX12 unit and they share maps they may not work properly as there is internal data to make sure that when you install a Powercommander on your bike with a zero map that the AFR is exactly the same as if the Powercommander was not installed. Just a heads up for you.
Hope this helps. Once I get my bike running I will develop a unit for it and share it with you but I am a LONG way from that.

Re: Power commander wiring
Nice one
I did ask DJ if they would do us a unit with the right plugs on etc but they weren't interested in such small numbers.
I'd be amazed if the MV had the same plugs - why would they use something so old?

Re: Power commander wiring
Actually Ducati, Benelli and Aprilia use the same connectors also.

Re: Power commander wiring
So are you saying, for example, that if I used a pcV for a 2009 R6 on a 2006 R6 that a zero map may not be stock fueling?
We've also noticed that the in/out colors are sometimes reversed, like on the zx14 pcV I used on my GPz.

Re: Power commander wiring
On that example the fueling would be correct. But there are some that are very different.
Early PCIII (serial port style) they did not follow the standard wiring colors that I stated earlier.

now i will buy a unit for Yamaha RN12 (R1) 2004-2006 unit Number : 411-410 / 411-411 it have 12 wires ( the right 8 beetween ECU and Incj , grey,blk, red, blk/white and no more wires.
Each person here he use this one ?

Re: Power commander wiring
There is no reason your ZX12 unit won't work if wired up correctly. nothing different internally that would cause the bike to not start between the ZX12 and R1 unit.
If you follow the wire colors I listed earlier you should be good to go. Since this bike uses low impedence injectors the chance of burning up our drivers are very high unless your duty cycle is low. Using larger injectors helps to keep the drivers cool as the duty cycle will be much lower.

Dyno,
When we use the Power commander we switch to high impedence injectors, of a larger size.

Re: Power commander wiring
+1 So far, I think all of us using the power commanders have switched to high imp. injectors.
We also noticed that on some models of Power Commanders the wire colors were backwards. I think this was the case on my zx14 PC-V.

Re: Power commander wiring
Smart move. Same thing I plan on doing. Like I stated there were some early serial port style units that did NOT follow the wiring I stated. Some of these harnesses could of carried over to the early PCIII USB units if we had some left over.
