9s on a budget.

It's only a 750...how fast can it be?

9s on a budget.

Hey all,

Been a long time but have been lurking from time to time.
I've sucked so much info from this site, though it best to give u guys something to read at least...

This build will be budget all the way, only spending to improve performance.

little history for ya.

Purchased the bike way back in 2005 in France, thrashed the shit out of it for many years.
2012 she was thrown into the back of a damp barn, pretty much forgotten, but recently I've decided to ship to Australia.
Around December last year dismantled and placed on a pallet to save on shipping cost.
Bike arrived Feb 2020 and sat in the corner until this month.

Local drag strip has a race your mates in two weeks, so decided to throw a zzr1100 front and rear on the old girl.
Front end not a drama, but some issues with the rear being so much wider than the standard swinger.

Managed to start the old girl after 8 years replacing every rubber hose due to that ethanol crap.

Test ride showed very little boost, so I fabbed a fitting to pressurize the intake, man there were so many leaks I'm impressed the bike made any boost?
With that sorted of too the strip for my first ever run down the track.
Max boost only 14 psi, couldn’t get to waste gate spring pressure set at 19 psi, messed around with eBay boost controller, but didn't produce any additional boost, carbon at the dump pipe, so Im thinking boost creep.

Best time was 10.7 pretty happy with that.
So now the quest will be to arrive in the nines, I know its a big ask for a bike with 40,000ks on the clock, bottom end never been apart.
More boost and maybe a lock-out clutch will be needed.
Anyway, next drags programmed for March next year, same time as Lake Gairdner speed week, (Aussie Bonneville)
Decisions decision, will try to dyno in the next few weeks.
More to come......

For sure, WOW. Good job by you being able to throw her together and get her down the track for the first time and achieve those times. But also a testament to the Grand Prix Z1 motors back in the day. What a motor, what a bike. :victory
