copper gasket questions

Post by Würstchens-Turbo 810 »

Hi, I have questions about the Coppergasket.

1.
before a few years When I got the Coppergasket, the material seemed too hard to me, so I had it annealed softly in an electroplating company.
(Info :I ringed my liners)
and when installing I also used copper gasket spray

Was this necessary??

2. Since I have ringed, can I use this gasket again after dismantling the cylinder head?

You can re use a copper gasket but it must be annealed in an oven or with a blow torch in the 70's we used a blow torch I did my apprenticeship on MK1 lotus and Mk2 twin cams they all had copper then.

Copper gasket + annealing + wire is what I used in my 200mph bike and also what we use in Storm (at 65psi boost). I have also used Gasgacinch, but I'm not convinced it was necessary if everything else is correct.
First to 200mph (2006) and still the fastest (211mph)
Quickest turbo-only 8.69 @ 162mph

I'm worried about whether I'll hit the grooves that the rings have pressed in when I reuse them.
Or should I turn the seal over?
