Well over 2 grand in AUD. Never.
Who's got the TB's for sale at $300. :?
I have a few spare sets I might keep for my retirement fund. Last time I bought a good set of 1100 TB's with spare bits it cost $50!
You should try to know everything about something & something about everything.

Why is it that EVERY idiot that has a 750 turbo for sale, or parts, seem to think these bikes are so rare and sought after they can charge outlandish, ridiculous prices because they think people will pay them just because they're rebuilding an old bike and desperate?

These old bikes just really aren't worth all that much anymore.
That's the truth, even if they are rare.

But people seem to think people will pay anything and with dollar signs and gold bars in their eyes try to charge $100 for a screw or $200 for a head gasket.

Imagine the ad for this bike but instead of it saying " runs good has not been sitting " it says " was running fine but needs another tank , this one is not salvageable " would you pay 3900 for it , 1600 less than the 5500 that he was asking ?
Doubtful..... unless you knew for sure you could get a replacement tank .
And even then you're still taking the owners word for the running ability of the engine if it had a good tank .

Personally, if I needed a tank to complete a restoration or even to make a runner , I would offer less (of course ) , but would pay the 1600 for a perfect tank .
Reason .... 1. They're not available new 2. A perfect old tank by itself seems to be more rare than an affordable complete bike . 3 . If you luck out and find a decent tank the Labor to restore it , materials , paint , decals plus the cost of the tank could be more than 1600 .

Your right G... back about 2014 2015 I bought 3 tanks. Mild rust inside but solid. Small dents. Repaired them, coated and sold two gave one to LFD. The one tank I picked up the guy strapped off the cap, fuel tap and return valve. I told him you should have sold it all together as it is so hard to get those parts so he offered me the tank for $99. and shipping. SOLD! I had a extra cap but had to buy the return and petcock. They're available then. Now days there impossible to find.
