What spark plugs should I run?

Post by Lorcan »

Q. I can't get the recommended BR9EV spark plug any more, what plug should I use?

A. The BR9EV has been superseded by BR9EIX, in iridium plug. Many owners report that ordinary BR9ES work just as well (especially with Dyna grey coils) and are much cheaper, but this varies from bike to bike. Some owners report excellent results with the equivalent Denso plug.

Use the BR9ES NGK's
Optional - BR9IEV Iridiums also work if want this type plug. Usually use the Iridiums with the Dyna Grey Coils when upgrading. :thumbup

Interesting sticker over the original spark plug gap specs in the owners manual, so what is the proper gap for the BR9ES when using stock coils? .5mm seems pretty small.

Set them at .7 to .8mm or .030 . Did this and sure many others will chime in also. Used this spec on both the BR9ES and BR9IEX NGKs. :thumbup

Because the BR9EV is a different material in plug design. They obsoleted it. Needed have closer gap for proper spark. :thumbup
