Intercooler dimensions
Intercooler dimensions
Saw some nice intercoolers in here but can’t seem to find the dimensions. I’m planning on building one from a new core. Does anyone have the core dimensions I could use for ordering one?
Re: Intercooler dimensions
Kinda depends on whether you intend on keeping the oil cooler and what front wheel/fork arrangement you have.

No oil cooler and 1st gen Hayabusa front end. Still in pieces laying on floor but close to being bolted together.

Re: Intercooler dimensions
You will not be able to fit a intercooler with 1st Gen Hayabusa front end. Did this swap and sure Pete can chime in agreement. The triple mounts on factory kawa 750 are manufactured more forward giving you frame clearance to the fork tubes. The Busa triples go almost straight out shortening the distance from frame to fork tubes so a intercooler will not clear the fork tubes. Only way is get some triples that are close to factory with a bit more distance as the tubes are larger to make up for difference from OEM.
Good luck!

Re: Intercooler dimensions
I wouldn't recommend using yokes/triples with more offset. Busas have low offset yokes for a reason - it aids stability at high speed by increasing trail. A sensible compromise is a ZZR1100/ZRX/ZX11 front end which is "right way up" giving the forks more clearance. I used a 3" thick core with ZZR front end and only had to restrict the lock stops slightly.

The drawing is not 100% accurate. You can see that in the photos the inlet and outlet stubs were moved further apart to clear the exhaust headers.

Re: Intercooler dimensions
Nice lorcan thanks the Dim.'s. I have an intercooler that looks like it should work with the ZX11 front end when it comes time. Haven't measured yet but pretty sure it is a tad smaller than yours.
I knew you are SOL with the busa front end, but figured I would let the experts chime in on that.

Thanks for the info guys. I’ll sideline this for the next one!

Good info on the triples Lorc as I had no experience trying that setup. Thanks for posting.
Your setup looks really awesome good see some pics of your 750 up on the screen!

15 year old photos now. I sold that intercooler to someone on here. Frans maybe, I don't remember now. My next one, if I ever get my fibreglass body back, won't have an intercooler. Just straight methanol down the tubes.

Re: Intercooler dimensions
Cant wait to see that come to fruition!
That was the last part of the build I was gonna do before the wreck. Had done research and found a company in Cali that makes a 500 psi mini pump for small spaces (pricey) that would fit right on the swing arm. Was gonna run mini sprayers in each TB body. How are you planning yours? Fun to see this will happen. Mine never happened and my goals chasing those never to be beaten records of yours! Was gonna have Leons pro rider do the drag since I am to heavy but the mile would been the one was looking forward to.
I think your the one that will do it! Again!

What are the small hoses going into it for ?

I can't remember now. External wastegate and possibly the boost gauge?
