Camchain pin Diameter?

Post by Betterthanfabio »

Longshot. Anyone know what diameter the pins are in the camchain?
I was going to get a breaker/riveter. The smallest it goes down to is 2.2mm.
Does that sound to big?

That should do it. A rough measurement of the pins in mine come out at 2.5mm. Just measuring the head of them and trying to measure the opposite way to the riveting.

Don't new ones come with a rivet link anyway? I don't understand why you would want to break one.

Hmm method for installing rivet link without the tool? 2 hammers? I was going to get a cheap rivet tool that comes with the other bits as well.

Never done a cam chain but when I was changing drive chains a lot I bought a Whale brand rivet tool. Buy cheap, buy twice.

Satisfied my tool fetish. Bought a break/rivet tool. We'll see what breaks first! :bananasex

I never used the break function. Just ground the head off the pin with an angle grinder and pushed the pin out.
