40 Years old

Post by longfiredragon »

Hey all

There seems to be less of us out there these days. Of course these bikes are old and so are a lot of us.

But I have to ask the question. Is, or has anyone thought about a 40 year gathering?

It would be awesome to do a 40 year anniversary gathering.

Throwing it out. Thoughts?

I've definitely thought about it but never went any further than that .

I'd like to see if a 40 year rally could possibly come together

You guys missed it…my 40th Bday was last year.

I’d love to attend something but highly doubt my “Turbo” will be ready by next year or even the year after. :cry

Later, Doug

Thanks for the replies. Let's just keep it going and see what happens.

The last rally was 2016 and was, what I would consider pretty successful, all things considered.

The venue is always an issue. Obviously there are those outside of the US. Because of this, if it is in the US I was thinking, and just throwing this out there. Maybe someplace somewhat central? Like maybe Colorado? This way everyone, north, east, west, and south has a similar distance. I know it would still be further for some them others. Also maybe we could shoot for early fall maybe? Instead of spring or summer. This would allow for more time for everyone.

I know this doesn't help anyone over sea's. In the past I had a 3 bedroom house and was willing to put people up from wherever, unfortunately that house is gone now.

Also personally, it doesn't matter to me if you currently own a running Turbo, used to have one, used to have one and now have something different, and want to bring it, have a non running Turbo or if you maybe had one and currently ride nothing. All would be welcome as far as I am concerned.

Also spread the word to those that don't come on here much.

Please just keep checking in, and let's see what happens.

Count me in! A few ideas:
Colorado would be great, my daughter lives there and I have visited many times, just without a motorcycle. The do get snow early in the fall at times, though. I bet Charlie would know some good roads.

I am a bit biased but it would be easiest for me to ride the 45 minutes to Deal's Gap. Still lots of good roads to explore. The new section of the Foothills Parkway is great. And a lot of us are within a day's drive of here.

Maybe we could have 4 separate rallys on the same day. US East, US West, UK, and Australia?

Great idea but you might think of having it an annual event as mine was registered in 1987 :?

Your bike may have been registered in 87, but it wasn't manufactured in 87.

Seems like there is a little interest. So let's keep it going.

Annual, Hmmm. Not a bad idea. Not sure if there are enough of us or the bikes left.
