Re: "Turbo loss"

I had one! First turbo I owned nearly 30 years ago paid $900 for it not running, low mileage. Had the wheel snapped of and the h pipe was rotted out somehow. $50 for new turbo, about the same for a h pipe. Threw out the old HT10 years ago thinking I'd never have another turbo bike.

Re: Compression test

Thanks for the input. No oil use, no smoke. Going to repeat the compression test then I might pull the rocker cover off & check valve clearances. They haven't been checked since the rebuild. "Best for someone to follow to see if one particular exhaust smokes." I had to read that a coup...

Compression test

OK here's one for you did a compression test on the bike first stone cold then hot. I'm getting strange results. this engine was apart less than 15,000 K's ago 810 kit etc etc. Its been running badly down low at constant throttle setting trying to maintain a steady speed & just generally running...

Re: zr7 oil pump, PRV and unitrack linkage sleeve wanted

I haven't got any of these bits but when I bought my ZR7 shock I got the linkages as well & 1 of them fitted the turbo although I cant remember which one. Probably useless info at this point but you never know.

Re: Next Question

Best charging system fail on a bike I saw was a guy came into the shop for a battery for his Katana & a tyre fit. I put a new battery it after I did the tyre then I noticed the alternator cover was getting hot! The regulator had failed & turned the alternator into a cooking element. The best...

Re: Pissed off

Yes I was lucky that there was just enough power in the shagged (another technical term) battery to assist winding the engine over when I dumped the clutch otherwise it wouldve been a sweaty push home!

Re: Next Question

Magnets can come loose in the rotors. 14.3 is the ideal charging voltage too Charlie. Halfway in between 14 min & 14.6 max.

Ive done it a few times when I haven't plugged the battery minder in last time I rode it or the lead got accidently unplugged and yeah worked perfectly. I might push it up...

Re: Next Question

13.6 is low yes. Mine runs just over 14. Did you check it with the headlight on? There's a brown wire on the regulator that senses the system voltage & that's what turns the power to the battery up & down. If there is a bad/dirty connection somewhere & the system voltage is lower where t...
