The 1st ever UK meet for
750 turbo owners took place at Shakespeare County Raceway. Sunday was
hot and sunny, by the time I got there Mick (NOSfearatu) Hueby had set up
camp with his camouflage van all the way from Germany and his bike was understandably getting a lot of attention. We were
soon joined by MikB and Kaz, I got a couple of runs in on my stocker and
scored an 11.42 @ 120, but Mick was down on boost and could only manage an
11.6, over a second down on his usual times. Dave
from Scotland had his first try at the quarter-mile and discovered it's
harder than it looks! Turbanana, JW, Turbobird and pal Alan with a Harris-framed turbo
were already around and Alan got in 3 runs with a best of 11.8. As soon as
the racing stopped we retired to the clubhouse bar.
It got a bit fuzzy after that...

NOSfearatu, Lorcan, MikB,
and Kaz's bikes. Kaz (far right) thinks she's out of shot, hehe...)
Monday was bright early in
the morning, but soon turned to rain. Mick the kick got to work on his
turbo, but by midday came the news that there would be no more racing as
more bad weather was on the way. Jeremy and M6NTL arrived late as we were
packing up, and some money was raised for Mike's fund (see forum).

Alan, Turbobird and
Lorcan getting wet and resorting to silly hat wearing for amusment.
The SCR announcer gave us a
bit of a talk on the tannoy, mentioned the website then sent round a guy to
ask us back anytime we like, hopefully with a few more bikes running and
some better weather!
Look out for further UK
meets early in 2003.
