Power Commander V

Post by Mang »

I know this subject has a section of its own but did not want to drop in the middle of the thread that was running.

I am thinking of venturing into the world of the Power Commander V for my 810 build and have been doing a little research. It appears that a number of people on here have experience and I was wondering which would be the best version for our bikes in light of the addition of the Power Commander V - PTi (From PCV website -On select models a new version of PCV is now available that’s perfect for forced induction applications) my assumption is that our bike would not be a selected model but other sites make reference to using on old bikes with after market turbos fitted.

Would it be worth purchasing the Autotune kit? This looks to me that it may have a lot of advantages but is it compatible with our bikes?

Frankly chaps, I am getting into an area of which I know nothing -but that's how we all started I guess.

As per usual any help would be greatly appreciated. (how many times have I said that)

My blues bike has one fitted if you want to take a look some time. That is about as far as my knowledge, skills and ability go. May be of some use.

OK Chaps thanks for the responses - I think I am begining to understand after a late evening of watching youtube - very informative.

The PTi version uses a MAP sensor but i believe the PTi verson is not necessary. To measure Tubro pressure using a std PCV what sensor should I use for the analogue input? Also does it make an sense to use the Autotune accessory?

More questions sorry

ok the first job
get rid of std injectors
Please note this is not my work and I take no credit for it it`s all what I have collected over the years

next job wire in the PC-V
pcv and pc3 wire up the same as in this post
http://www.750turbo.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=4790

some times the pcv wiring will be the opposite i.e striped wires to injector solid to pcv
it will not harm anything if they connect the wrong way just wont work
the only difference is the boost sensor wire will go to pcv analogue input (the second port)
you do not need to hook up the tps

ok the next bit is to deicide if you going to use autotune or not
but all the same I would recommend that session on the dyno is best as long as your dyno guy understands turbo bike`s
I used auto tune cos my dyno guy did not
info on setting up autotune on dynojets web site and youtube vids

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOi9NHRv7jE

just remember we tune by boost not tps

I would also recommend that a lcd or the new pod3 is used to data log they do come up for sale on ebay

http://www.powercommander.com/powercomm ... d-300.aspx

http://www.powercommander.com/powercomm ... fault.aspx

if you get a lcd 100 ment for pc3 usb you can flash it to the pcv firmware

I hope that this helps you out a bit
I am sure I have forgotten a few bits
any question or anything you need help with
ask away and I will do my best too help
