Post Mr Fluffy,could you.......
Measure the pulley bearing on your sc12 for me?[if you haven't re-assembled that is]
After three years of constant running I believe the bearing is signing out. Makes crunchy noises when cold, but settles down after it warms a bit.
I cannot take the car off the road for any length of time, as it's presently the 'workvan', so I find myself in the position of driving around waiting for the magnetic clutch assembly to launch itself into my radiator!!
Not exactly the most relaxing drive, but this is my only four wheeled transport, and the turbo doesn't have roof racks.......Of course if it s***ts itself I'll have plenty of time to fix it then, but will not have the money to afford the repairs. Ain't life wonderful
Thanks in advance mate
Ack, sounds nasty, and to make it worse I cant measure the bearing because its in france with the rest of my toys and Im in england on contract for ages.
Next time Im back there will be easter/april now (having been there over xmas), theres not even someone half compentant local I can ring up and get them to take it off/find it in the shed either. I have a feeling I remember looking at it and it was a standard bearing size too and its stamped on it.
Going back through my photo archives I can only find this :-

The other thing from memory is that its really deep, its almost the depth of the pulley itself (say less maybe 15-20mm), so if you can hoik the dimensions from that photo (bloody difficult I know) and theres only one near it in the catalog, then maybe...
This site has the charger bearings detailed in it, but not the big clutch one, lets hope you dont need this but anyway:-
homepages.ihug.com.au/~ovlov/technical/blower.htm
Have you thought about ordering the bearing from a toyota dealer as a part? They may be nice and give you the dimensions too (unlikely though) or just supply one, worth a check out to see what the oem ones cost apiece, or maybe get a clue from the part number or somesuch?
Sorry I cant be of more help, bad timing im afraid
If I can dig any more info up Ill post it here.
Old enough to know better, still stupid enough to do it anyway

Post Crunchy Bearing
Thanks for your efforts Phil, it's a pity you are separated from your toy shed, don't think I could handle living without a playroom......
I'll try Toyota for the number, I know a friendly dude behind the counter there, maybe I'll get lucky, but buying from them would have to be the easiest way to clean out the bank account!!
There are plenty of other bearing suppliers in Darwin however, so I guess the number is the vital ingredient here.
Cheers mate, thanks for the link too.
Post sc14 bearing
Hi Stan,
Thanks for offering. Yes, the front bearing on my sc14 blower is slowly dying, and toyota darwin inform me the bearing is not a toyota part as such,[ no numbers on their system], but I guess they will sell me the whole blower if I ask nicely!
It's anybody's guess how much that will be..........so..... if you have this part kicking around I'll gladly take it off your hands
cheers
