Convert 630 chain to 530, by Tak

530 chain and sprockets are cheaper than 630, easier to come by, just as strong, and they are lighter so take less horsepower to turn. Simply put, there's no reason to stick to 630 (well, at least performance wise, that is).

The formula

Stock 630 chain : 98 links
Stock front sprocket : 15 teeth
Stock rear sprocket : 46 teeth

530 chain links : 98 X 6/5 =117.6 , 118 links
530 front sprocket : 15 X 6/5=18, 18 teeth
530 rear sprocket : 46 X 6/5=55.2, 55teeth

If you wish to change gearing, add 1/2 link for every added tooth to your chain length.
For example, I run 17teeth front 48teeth rear because of low profile 17-inch tire. So I need 114 links (-1 front, -7 rear, total -8 teeth 118-8/2=114 ).

530 pitch front sprocket is available from Sunstar (in US). If Sunstar sprocket is not available in your area, search 530pitch sprocket for KZ(Z) 900/1000. They share the same countershaft spline.

Oh, by the way, if you change swingarm, you'd have to figure out required chain links in a different way because you are changing the distance between front and rear sprocket.

Gearing calculator by Lorcan/Dognosh

A larger front sprocket, or smaller rear, raises overall gearing allowing easier cruising and greater top speed (as long as you have enough power to pull it). A smaller front sprocket, or larger rear, lowers gearing allowing better acceleration at the expense of top speed.

This handy gearing calculator by Dognosh helps you see the effects of changing gearing. Sprocket sizes, tyre circumference and rpm can all be altered. Bear in mind that the faster you go, the more "tyre slip" (wheelspin) will be a factor.

To install the calculator download the zip file below and extract the gearcalc.exe file and data folder. Run the gearcalc.exe file and click : Options>Bike Database - specs of the 750 turbo should appear.

Click the Top Speed Calculator button. Select your sprocket ratios, tyre circumference and rpm for a predicted top speed. If you want to save your information click "edit name" to save your numbers without overwriting the stock bike data.
